I’m Monique, the bubbly, free-loving spirit behind Sand & Soul Photography. I’m down to earth, and I am always up for a chat. I have an unhealthy obsession with decorative cushions, you can never have too many. I would love to tell you I’m a gym junkie, but the way to my heart is definitely via my stomach. Nothing pleases me more than good company, a cheese board paired with a nice drop of wine. I’m known to be a hopeless romantic, if I get a night to myself you will find me curled up on the couch watching a good old rom-com with tissues in hand.

My creative journey started in high school where I had the opportunity to pick up a camera for the first time and learn the art of film photography. There is something quite majestic about spending time in a dark room and developing your own photos.

When I’m not taking photos, you will find me out on the water exploring the Great Barrier Reef. My infinite love and respect for the ocean was shaped in my childhood where the ocean was my playground. I can’t get enough vitamin-sea in my life.

Friends say one of my best qualities is that I’m an empath. I laugh a lot, and I cry a lot too. I even cry when I’m beaming with happiness. Being an empath is an integral part of who I am as a photographer. I don’t want to just capture your story, I want to experience it with you. This is what sets my soul on fire. To my clients I am not just a photographer, but a trusted friend ready to encapsulate their life as it unfolds. I’m ready to laugh and cry with you. This is me.
